Mary McCarthy believes that wellbeing is the foundation for a healthy, engaged, and thriving workplace. She is passionate about helping employees build connections, discover resources, and create habits that support their overall wellbeing.

In her role at Iowa State University, Mary leads initiatives that support the physical, emotional, financial, social, and professional wellbeing of faculty and staff. She believes that when people feel connected, supported, and valued, they are better able to reach their full potential both at work and in life.

Mary's professional background includes employee assistance programming, leadership development, health promotion, learning and development, and organizational culture. She brings a strengths-based, people-centered approach to her work and enjoys creating meaningful programs, resources, and experiences that help individuals build healthy habits, strengthen connections, and grow personally and professionally.

As a yoga and mindfulness practitioner and instructor for more than 25 years, Mary brings a holistic perspective to wellbeing, helping people develop sustainable practices that support their health, happiness, and overall quality of life.

She is passionate about fostering a campus culture where wellbeing is part of everyday life, making it easier for employees to access resources, build connections, and thrive.

Outside of work, Mary enjoys spending time with her family, practicing yoga, exploring the outdoors, and continuing her own learning journey while reading books and drinking a nice hot cup of coffee on her front porch.
