ALEX will ask you a few questions about your health care and other benefits needs (your answers remain anonymous and confidential), crunch some numbers and recommend ISU benefits that fit your personal situation.
The tool is personalized, so you can see which health plans make the most sense for you. Plus, ALEX explains your benefit options in plain English -- no jargon or complicated legal language.

Using ALEX is simple. You won’t need your insurance records, but if you’d like to prepare, here’s what ALEX will ask about:
- Doctor visits (primary care and specialists)
- Hospital stays
- Surgeries (inpatient and outpatient)
- Prescriptions (occasional and ongoing)
Access ALEX before you enroll in your benefits, during Annual Enrollment or when you experience a qualified life event!
ALEX is not a substitute for benefit elections (new hire, qualified benefit event or open enrollment). The choices that you select in ALEX do not transfer to Workday as your actual elections. You will still need to make your final Open Enrollment elections in Workday.
